About me
Hello, my name is Susana and I'm from Lisbon.
I'm a freelance photographer, working in Portugal.
At the age of 16 I took my father's camera for the first time and photography has been with me for twenty years.
In 2022, I completed the Master in Artistic Photography at IPCI - Institute of Cultural and Image Production. Very enriching training, especially in the way of thinking, interpreting and making photography.
Why I photograph...
I really like this world of ours. I like the morning light on a sunny winter day. Everything feels fresher and newer. Everything comes alive.
The buildings, gray at night, are colored a pale orange, bringing to light textures, colors, reflections in the windows... and life inside. The trees breathe and sparkle with green. People rush through their routines, without noticing this natural spectacle that is the light spreading life.

And it's because I like this world of ours that I want to interpret it, freeze pieces of it through photography so that everyone can see that, despite all their hardships, there is a lot of beauty in everything that surrounds us and, often, where and when least we hope: in the most mundane, basic and simple gestures. Therein lies the spontaneity and naturalness. That's how we are. This is how we should be remembered.
For me, before being a photographer, you have to be a Person. Without it, without self-knowledge, without seeking to understand this world of ours and our place in it, photography loses its potential.
For me, photography is just a medium I use to express the pleasure of seeing.
I think this is the best I can offer. The most beautiful attention to detail and the will to evolve. It was a surprise to enjoy photographing families so much and the truth is that it is great to be able to be part of their history through photography.
Love takes many forms and photography is one of them.
